2016 Make-Up Favourites

Slightly delayed, but as they say, better late than never!

I acquired a lot of make-up in 2016 and discovered a few old favourites as well, so this is all a good mix of old and new. I'm pretty proud to say that I've become a lot more comfortable with how I do my make-up and I can say that I can get the look that I really want without too much fiddling.

Hopefully this means less disappointing and unnecessary purchases in 2017? Not sure about unnecessary, because I do have a tendency to shop when I'm sad, but we can always try. 

I did a lot of streamlining to have one product per category as much as possible, be proud!

Primer

The Hourglass Mineral Veil is easily the best primer I've tried by far. I get compliments on my skin every time I wear this, no joke! Half a pump or less is all I need to get that smooth, poreless-looking base that makes all the other products I put on top last for hours longer. It's expensive and my heart broke when I paid for it, but the results are well-worth it! I'd imagine this bottle would last me a good two years!

Foundation

I've dreamed of the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation for years, and I'm so happy to call this my top favourite! I love the Serum version for colder weather, but for everyday use in this hot, humid country, the regular formula is amazing! Blended with a brush, I get a medium coverage that's even, light on the skin, and stays for a good six hours before fading. I haven't found a base I've loved this much since the Fairydrops BB Cream!

Concealer

I know that highlighting concealers are more of an extra step, but wow do they make a difference! The L'oreal Lumi Magique in particular is an affordable but very effective concealer that does well in cancelling (moderate) dark circles while really brightening the under eye area. I also really like it underneath contour to make it more prominent.

Powder

I think out of all the products in my Europe Beauty Haul, the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder has to be my favourite. It's compact, blends into the skin well, controls oil, and can be used for flash photography. Easily the best compact powder I've used, knocking my old favourite (the NARS Translucent Crystal Setting Powder) out of the water. I just wish it was more readily available!

Eyeshadow Palette

I knew I would love the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette as soon as I saw it, but I underestimated how much. I've pretty much ignored all my other palettes in favour of this and would gladly take it anywhere with me as it can create so many looks that I love. The shadows are so pigmented and vibrant that it makes Urban Decay look quite sad, if I'm honest! Now I know why everyone has professed their long lasting love to this!

Single Eyeshadow

I knew that Makeup Geek Cosmopolitan was beautiful but damn! Every time I put it on I'm so surprised with how unique and yet so well formulated this eyeshadow is. I wore this non-stop during those stressful thesis months that I was away from the blog and its usually my first recommendation to anyone who wants to try Makeup Geek. 

Eyeliner

Well, isn't this embarrassing. I usually keep my makeup in as near to mint condition as possible, but it goes to show just how much I still love the Clio Kill Brown Brush Liner. This has been my favourite for a good three years now because its still the most pigmented, long-lasting eyeliner (both on the eyes and usage-wise) I've tried.

Mascara

Honestly, why did I even bother to stray from the Fairydrops Platinum Waterproof Mascara? It holds a curl, lengthens my lashes like no other, separates beautifully while providing a bit of thickening and doesn't flake or smudge. It's been the only mascara that truly makes me happy, and while it is difficult to find (only in Sasa HK it seems!), I am still more than willing to get it.

Blush

I've reached for the Milani Rose Blush in Romantic Rose 9 out of 10 times that I do my makeup. It's brightening without being too loud, and neutral enough that it goes with most of the looks that I wear. It's also not overly pigmented that you'll get clown cheeks, and the design is still so. pretty. My only qualm is the scent, but for what it gives me, it can be easily overlooked!

Contour

While I loved my Too Cool for School Contour Powder, I found that cream contours like the L'oreal Infallible Sculpt works infinitely better for me. The shade of this contour in particular is a bit cooler, so it appears more like a shadow on my face than anything else. I love that it's a cream as well and is pigmented enough while being buildable. Great affordable option that I reach for always!

Everyday Lipstick

Honestly...this was the hardest for me because I loved a lot of lipsticks in 2016. From the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in Secret Salma, to the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet, to the Etude House Chiffon Lipstick. Really difficult time. I'm becoming a lipstick hoarder.

But usage-wise, the Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle wins by a long shot, so much so that the Chanel engraving has been used! This has been my dream lipstick for as long as I can remember, and whenever I need a classy but elegant lipstick, this is always my go to. The formula is also very good to the lips as its non-drying and feels so comfortable. If I had to get rid of all my lipsticks and keep this one, I would still be very happy.

Red Lipstick

You might be calling 'cheater!' at this point but wait! Late 2016 was the time that I finally, finally had the balls to wear red lips out without feeling overly self-conscious. While I do love all the reds I own, the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Fascinante is such a beautiful, versatile red. It's that red lipstick you can always rely on as the shade works for both casual and more formal situations. I also find it quite comfortable for something marketed as a matte.

2016 Make-Up Favourites

2015 Favourites

Better late than never, yes?

2015 did a better job at showing me who was boss than I did, so I'm honestly glad to say goodbye. While there were moments of laughter and joy, I was struggling through most of it. That, however, is not the case for make-up! I've found so many gems this year that I am more than happy to add to my permanent collection, and I can't wait to share it with all of you!

I didn't choose a product for every category, as I didn't try much from each anyway. I included those wherein I had a lot of options, or those really worthy of a mention! These products have easily obtained holy grail status and will be used until they're gone. <3

Best Base: Jouer Matte Moisture Tint (My shade: Nude)

This was tough, especially for those of you who know how much I love bases. This Jouer one is great for everyday, and is also amazing for mixing with other bases! A little goes a very long way, and the coverage and finish is amazing. This is similar to the Fairydrops Candybar BB Cream (review here) though with a faster drying time. Essentially, perfect skin in a tube! 

Best Concealer: Maybelline Master Conceal (My shade: 30 Light-Medium) (Review here)

I've reached for this concealer ever time without fail. I love its thin, lightweight consistency but good dry down time, making it great for dark circles, covering redness, and for scars. It was non-cakey on my normal and my combination skin, and looked very natural even on its own! Really amazing drugstore concealer that I would recommend to anyone!

Best Cheek Product: Too Cool for School Art Class by Rodin Createur du contour (Review here)

I never expected to love this product as much as I do now. I find that using a small amount every day makes a world of a difference in adding definition to the face without looking too obvious. It adds amazing shadow to warmer skin tones or Asian complexions like mine. I've already made a hefty dent, and yet its still going strong!

Best Eyeshadow: Too Faced Natural Matte Palette (Review here)

I have reached for this palette so much on so many occasions it's almost ridiculous. The colours are perfect for my needs, can be used alone or in conjunction with other palettes, and the formula is amazing. I still would highly recommend this palette and I will definitely be using it up until I hit pan!

Best Lipstick: MAC See Sheer

This was honestly the easiest for me to think of, despite acquiring a number of lip products this year. I have reached for this colour so many times even after the end of the warmer months, and I have loved this. Its essentially the only "coral" I would wear, which is a very big statement. This might be the first lipstick I will finish - I'll keep you all posted.

2015 Favourites

October and November Favourites

You're probably getting tired of hearing (rather, reading) me say that my lack of time has not allowed new additions to my make-up routine, but this still holds true. I do realize, however, that the lack of time has made me test and choose products that require little to no effort to look perfect. I've also gone with relatively the same look, with variations only in eyeshadow and lip colour. Those are the easiest things to change up, after all!

The goal these past two months was too look bright and awake even with my lack of sleep. I've really grown to rely and appreciate these three (three!!) products, so discussing them now says a lot about how good they are.

Milani Baked Blush (Luminoso)

An impulse buy! I've heard a lot of hype around this blush, claiming it imparted a colour and luminosity that could not be rivaled. I was initially skeptical when I got this in the mail, as it looked too light and peachy in the pan. Weeks later, I've found that I've been reaching for this blush every time I wear make-up! It appears a bit darker on the skin versus the pan, and really brings a lot of life to the face without looking ridiculous.

Benefit Watts Up Highlighter

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this in a previous favourites post, but I should have! This is a champagne highlighter that I find to suit my skin really well versus white and pink-toned highlighters. I use it on the tops of my cheekbones, inner eye corner, and on my cupids bow; the result is instantly brighter skin sans glitter.

Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara

I've been trying this out for around 3 months now before forming an opinion. While it isn't anything close to my Fairydrops Platinum Mascara, it does a good job at lengthening the lashes in a subtle way. I think this is what people consider a 'weekend mascara' - it adds something without going over the top. I like that this really makes a difference in making my eyes look wider and more awake. While definitely worth a try, its not everyone's cup of tea.

October and November Favourites

June and July Favourites

I was actually worried that I wasn't going to have a lot of favourites this time around, which is ridiculous considering I'm already doing this on a bi-monthly basis. The last two weeks, however, have given me great opportunities to try out some of the things I've been neglecting a bit in my collection. I'm really excited to share these with you so read on!

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint (Shade: Nude)

I got this in my Big May Haul as I wanted a base that didn't require powder to set but wasn't drying on the skin. I also wanted to try tinted moisturizers considering that my Fairydrops Candybar BB Cream is running low ;___; This is a cult-favourite and rightly so as it is not only ticks all the boxes for what I wanted, but it is also pigmented enough to cover redness and looks like skin. I also love how this worked when I had oily skin and now when I have dry skin due to acne medications. Highly recommended!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation (Shade: 3.5 Warm Beige)

Yes, you read that right! I have been very vocal about my dislike for this foundation on my blog, but I could never throw it out because of the price. Now that the condition of my skin has gotten better (greatly reduced oiliness, greatly lessened acne, smoother skin texture), this foundation works so well! I've also come to appreciate the freshness it imparts now that I'm no longer a greaseball. I've concluded that this is a good foundation if you've already got pretty okay normal to dry skin to start with. Also super long-lasting now!

Real Techniques Contour Brush

I've been very dissatisfied with my current powder brush and decided to try this brush for my powder on a whim, and it's amazing! I love that it gives me a lot of control and allows me to pinpoint exactly where I want my powder to be. The tapered edge also helps in depositing a good amount of product that doesn't make the face too powdery.

Too Cool for School Art Class by Rodin Createur du Contour + BYS Synthetic Blending Brush

I've been attempting to learn how to contour this month, but could never get it right when I used the RT Contour Brush or the Expert Face Brush. I tried adapting Karima from Shameless Fripperies' technique where she uses a blending brush to really get into the hollows, and found that it worked perfectly! The blending brush works so well as it gets the colour right where I want, but also helps in blending. Great way for me to repurpose this brush!

The TCFS Contour Powder is great for beginners as it isn't too pigmented but still builds and blends very easily. I use the darkest mixed with the middle shade for a very subtly defined cheekbones for the daytime. The colour is also great if you're NC25 or lower with slight yellow undertones, as it doesn't look too ashy or muddy on the skin. Expect a review on this soon!

Bioderma Atoderm Restorative Lip Treatment

Ever since taking medication for my acne, my lips have been really chapped and have peeled off pretty much everywhere. I've found that none of my lip balms worked, so I was recommended this by my doctor. I do need to apply an initial thick layer, but it has been the only one to restore my lips back to a normal, non-peeling state. It is quite pricey which is the only downside, but otherwise, a really great product!

Blogging Notebook from Artbox

I've forgotten exactly when I acquired this (maybe 1 or 2 months ago) but I love that it allows me to be more organized with my blog. It has also saved me from a lot of writers' block and creativity block  because it motivates me to really sit down and think about what I want to write. I also love that it isn't lined so I can write and draw (not that I'm any good, but in case I need to) freely. Plus, the cover design is very me. :D

June and July Favourites

April & May Favourites

Finally my favourites post time! If you didn't know, I decided to have a bimonthly favourites instead and I have to say I think I like it better. Within the course of two months I got a few new things that I really like, and I can't wait to share them with all of you! 

I don't have any skin care favourites this time around because I've been using products from my dermatologist (gasp). I don't know if I ever mentioned, but I put off going to the dermatologist for a long time because I wanted to find a routine that would address my skin concerns on my own. It worked for a while, until my acne started getting out of control and nothing was working. I do have a hair product and (another gasp) a body product!

I do have to say that one favourite not included here is my old kit lens for my camera. I decided to try it out again after thinking it was broken and it gave much better quality images that my old lens! The only fallback is that I can only use manual focus, but I've read that its better than auto anyway.

Also - yay for the new background!

OGX Scalp Therapy Australian Tea Tree Conditioner

I mentioned the Kukui Oil variant in one of my impulse hauls last year, but I like this better because it does much more than the Kukui Oil one. It has reduced scalp itchiness (slightly tmi but its a very real concern XD) even when I don't use it every time I wash my hair while still leaving it smooth and easy to style (not that I do much styling). It also has a cooling effect, which is wonderful considering the 34~41 °C degree heat!

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette

Where do I even begin with this? Not only does this palette compliment my warm skin better than the mattes I had prior (aka the Naked 2), but the formula of these is the best that I've encountered! They're both pigmented and quite buttery, something I didn't think possible for matte eyeshadows. Expect a review of this soon!

MAC See Sheer talked about in depth here

April was the month that I really started getting and using lipsticks, and this is the one I reached for the most. Its a muted coral that is not too pink, too red, or too orange, and is really great for those who are adverse to strong corals like me, or those who want a hassle-free warmer lipstick!

NYX Powder Blush (Pinched) from this haul

I wore this with See Sheer and they made an amazing combination! Pinched doesn't only warm up the face but it also gives a lot of brightness. Again, I'm not the biggest fan of corals but I love this. This and See Sheer are some of the products that make me really excited to put on make-up!

Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub

If you're not a fan of sweet smelling scents, steer clear. If you are however, this smells like pancakes! I haven't bought a scrub in a loooong time, and I have never used anything as good as this. It leaves my skin really soft and moisturized, even if I don't follow it up with lotion. This is honestly so much fun to use and I have to limit myself to using this once a week in fear of running out!

K-Palette Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow Pencil review here

Second brow product that I really grew to appreciate and have turned to whenever I'm going to be out for a long day. The pencil has a very fine nib that's great for drawing on individual hairs, and the powder is for lazy days or for filling out large gaps. Read my review if you want more details!

Maybelline Master Conceal 

I love that this blends easily, sets to a natural, seamless finish, and is quite pigmented considering the price. I find myself reaching for this more than my Make Up Forever Full Cover because it can be used both under the eyes and on blemishes, which makes it great for travel and taking around. It is slightly too light for me, but because it is blendable, it works well for me!

April & May Favourites

March Favourites

As you can see from the picture, the number of favourites I have every month are dwindling. It's mostly because I still have quite a small collection of make-up, so I usually use the same things more or less. I was thinking of doing this once every other month or every 2 months just so I have more to mention. Let me know what you think!

This month was hectic but I'm glad that uni is finally over...for now. -_- Since I spent most nights accomplishing few but heavy on my grades requirements, I didn't have time to wear a lot of make-up the next day. These favourites are half skincare, half make-up(ish) and I haven't mentioned most of them before.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye and Lip Make-Up Remover

I bought this late February and talked about it in my make-up removers post, but I really love how easily it removes eye make-up. I haven't had a dual phase remover in years and now I finally see why its so useful to have. I just soak a cotton pad (well, most of it because I don't want to use too much product), press it on my closed eye for at least 15 seconds, and by then 90% of my eye make-up is gone. It's really gentle too and inexpensive, so I highly recommend it!

Clio Kill Brown Waterproof Brush Liner

I forgot which favourites I mentioned this in but obviously I still have it, and it's still going strong! I'm more of a brown eyeliner kind of person and I love how it adds a little more attitude without being as bold as a black eyeliner would. Plus, it has a brush tip versus a felt tip, so the point stays sharp and it has not dried out on me yet. 

Kiehls Skin Rescuer

I got this deluxe sample from my Christmas Haul. It addresses redness and stressed skin, which is exactly what I was looking for in a skin care product. It is quite hydrating to the point that it will leave a sheen on your face, so I use it in the evening. The next day, my skin is devoid of the usual irritated redness and looks much brighter. Despite my 'Only 5 non-drugstore purchases' regulation, this is definitely worth buying the full-sized version for.

Skin Food Black Sugar Mask

I only appreciated what this did for my skin when I used it sparingly. It's a great physical exfoliating mask that leaves skin soft yet hydrated after use. I love using it midweek when I'm feeling tired and when my skin has those teeny tiny bumps (I don't know what they are, if someone does please let me know!) because it adds a bit more life into my skin and makes it smoother for days.

March Favourites

February Favourites

Not going to lie, I had a particularly hard time picking this month's favourites. Using mostly the same products over and over again leaves little to talk about. Nonetheless, there were a few products that snuck into my daily makeup routine without my noticing. I've talked about most of them in previous posts, so in a way they are old new favourites, save for one.

This was also the month I switched things up and went for lighter bases. Whether its the fact that putting on too much was getting tiring, or that I wanted an extra 10 or so minutes sleeping, I opted for a base that felt light but didn't make me feel too conscious about the redness in my face or my spots. If anyone has any more base recommendations, let me know!

Benefit Porefessional

I now know that I cannot go without primer - it's as essential as BB Cream/Foundation is for me. With my skin getting oilier, I knew I had to put my Etude House Primer to the side for a while since that one is a little more hydrating. I've ignored this for a good few months but now it's a staple for me and I appreciate what it does for my makeup. I learned that its best not to use a lot of this, else any base on top tends to go patchy after a few hours. It doesn't feel heavy or make me feel like my skin is suffocating under it. I guess I can see why there's so much hype around this!

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Another recurring favourite, but I felt like I finally learned how to use this properly this month. I wore very light bases, not caring much if my redness was completely covered, but used this to hide any evil spots. You also don't need a lot to cover things up, which is probably why this has lasted for so long even after using it almost everyday since June last year. I was debating on whether or not to repurchase, and now I think I will!

Benefit Watts Up

I got this in my first impulse haul and wear this on most makeup days. Whenever I forget to wear this I feel like my skin lacks a bit of luminosity, especially in the inner eye corner. It's a very blendable, easy to apply cream champagne highlighter that you won't need much of to add some brightness to your face. Definitely repurchasing the full sized one when I run out, but it seems like a long time before I do.

NYX Butter Gloss (Strawberry Parfait)

Giving you a bit of a spoiler for my Spring/Summer haul post! This is one of the first products I picked up because of all the recommendations from several beauty bloggers. I didn't expect this to be as great as it is but as soon as I tried it on I didn't go a day without wearing it! The colour is a really nice sheer fuchsia pink and the formula is really moisturizing. Highly recommended for an everyday wash of colour on the lips. Out of all the products I think this is my ultimate favourite this month!

February Favourites

January Favourites

My first favourites post of the year!

This month has been great in terms of beauty discoveries (definitely not uni-related discoveries ugh) and I'm so happy to be able to talk about them with you! I purchased most of these in my Christmas Haul last year and I have not been disappointed by those that I added to my regular rotation. I've finally come to terms that I no longer have dry skin (cries) so I had to make a few adjustments with the products I use.

Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation

I started using this starting Christmas time and I've slowly fallen in love with it! As I keep mentioning my first foundation experience with the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation was horrible, and this foundation did exactly what I expected the BB one to do and more! I use two pumps and it covers what I need covering (except acne marks, I still use concealer for that), is still on my face after a good 8 hours, and gives this beautiful, luminous glow that I have not seen in any of the bases I've tried. I'm so happy with this foundation! Will definitely do a review soon!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

This works extremely well with the KGD Foundation in applying and blending it on my face. It easily takes away streak marks and makes everything look seamless, and is great at buffing foundation into the skin as well. I preferred sponges initially, but just for the KGD Foundation, I have to use this.

NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder

I've already mentioned this in my favourites from my October Favourites, but I've started using it again as it not only adds luminosity, but also makes my base makeup last a bit longer. I've already hit pan on it so now I'm trying to take the product from the sides to even it out. It feels silky on the skin and sets makeup well. It lacks a bit in the oil control department, so I think the loose version would be better for that.

Kiehls Calendula Deep Cleansing Foam

I got a sample when I bought the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate and I did not expect to like it as much as I did! The smell isn't my cup of tea but I love how it leaves my skin feeling clean minus the squeaky, tight feeling as most (if not all) of the cleansers I've tried usually do. It also helped reduce the oil on my face a tiny bit, and less sebum means less pimples! I couldn't resist purchasing the full-sized bottle and at 230mL and only using half a pump per wash, I think this will last me a long time.

Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Being Kiehls' bestselling product as well as a favourite in the beauty community, there hasn't been anything that hasn't been said about this already. I love that it doesn't aggravate my acne, absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a greasy mess, how 3 drops is enough for my face, and the lovely brightness it adds to my skin the next day. I look forward to my night routine just for this product!

January Favourites

2014 Favourites

Hey everyone!

I won't be having a favourites for this month in favour of the ultimate favourites post - my 2014  Favourites! This is a special kind of favourites as it also includes my favourite travel experience from this past year as well. Not going to lie, this was a pretty difficult year for me in terms of everything, but it was easily the most eventful. Restarting this blog was definitely a big part of my year, and I hope to continue being more active and sharing all these experiences and products with all of you!

Fairydrops Candybar BB Cream (Review here)

I've said this before, but this is by far the best BB cream I have ever tried. No grey cast, great colour match, lightweight, light to medium coverage, and photo-friendly! This makes me look like I have healthy, almost flawless skin, which is definitely not the case. The shade range and packaging definitely need some improvement, but I have been so happy with this overall and would highly recommend it!

Innisfree Volcanic Pore Clay Mask (Review here)

I used to use it twice a week when I first got it, but I like it better as a once a week treatment on Sunday nights to clarify my pores after wearing make-up almost the whole week. It also helps calm my acne though I don't use it as a spot treatment anymore. It also reduces the redness on my face, which is always a huge plus for me. It's easy to see why this sells so well!

Real Techniques Shading Brush

This wins as my favourite brush this year as it is the one that I didn't expect to work as well as it did. It works well to pack on colour as well as to blend harsh edges away no matter what type of eyeshadow. It also allows me a lot of control because of its small size. All in all, it's a really great multi-purpose first eyeshadow brush!

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow (Birthday Suit, My Two Cents)

These two have been my go-to for an easy wash of colour on lazy days, as well as bases to make similar colours sitting on top more vibrant. I also like how you can't find similar colours of these in the famous Maybelline Color Tattoo range, which convinces me to purchase the full-sized versions when I run out...which won't happen soon as I'm not even halfway through the tiny pots!

Laneige Water Bank Essence EX

This is the newest one among all my favourites, but it is the one that has made all the difference to my rough, dehydrated skin. It does exactly as it claimed - to smoothen skin and add moisture. I also like how quickly it absorbs into the skin without leaving an icky oily feeling unlike other moisturizers. I think I found another skin care staple!

Etude House Goodbye Pore Ever Primer Essence (Review here)

I like how this adds enough moisture and has just the right amount of silicone to make the application of whatever base I apply on top smoother without making me feel like I have a film over my face as most primers tend to do. I'm happy with the price tag as well despite its availability (rather, lack of) in most Etude House branches I go to. Highly recommended for people with drier skin!

Too Cool for School Marshmallow Puff (Review here)

I was in denial for a long time on choosing this sponge over my make-up brushes, but this gives the most flawless, skin-like finish, especially when paired with cream products like my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer! It also helps my base products to separate less when worn for a long time.  This combined with my Fairydrops BB Cream and NARS Concealer make for a (seemingly) good skin day. Another unexpected favourite, and it won't break your bank as much as the original Beauty Blender would!

Best Travel Experience

Singapore

I already consider myself lucky to have traveled overseas more than once this year, but what made my Singapore May 2014 trip better was that I got to visit a friend I hadn't seen in a long time, and experienced planning and paying for a trip all on my own. This was more of a vacation for me than my Seoul trip was, as I didn't have to stress over the itinerary and making sure my parents weren't lost. It was nice to go at your own pace and do what you wanted to do for a change. In a way, it was a semi-independent trip that I won't forget for a lifetime.

2014 Favourites

Hey everyone!

It has been a whirlwind of a month but I acquired a lot of new things that I hope to share with you soon! It was back to school for me so I tried to keep my routine fairly simple and easy to do, and I tried my best to keep my skin in the best condition possible as well to combat all the stress and late nights sleeping. Here are my favourites for this month!

Fairydrops Candybar BB Cream

A repeat of one of my July Favourites, but it just goes to show how good it is! It's that one base product I go to when I need coverage but still my skin to look like skin. The weather is getting drier so I've been using this with my Too Cool for School Marshmallow Puff and it helps making the BB cream much more seamless and natural!

Fairydrops Platinum Waterproof Mascara + Shu Uemura Lash Curler

I first used this for my first day back at uni (after 2 months without mascara) and this was love at first...wiggle (since you wiggle the mascara wand through your lashes? haha). Together with my lash curler, they are an unbeatable tag team for curled, voluminous, longer, natural-looking lashes that last all day without any fall out or smudging. This is possibly one of the best mascaras I have tried, and I'm curious to see how other famed mascaras such as the Maybelline The Falsies, Covergirl Lash Blast, and Benefit's They're Real match up.

Benefit Watt's Up Highlighter

I've been using this lately and while I like putting it at the highest point of my cheeks, I really love it as an inner corner highlight! The formula is a cream type that is easy to blend and looks very natural that you can never tell its there, even if I point it out. You also don't need a lot of product which is good news for me!

Lioele Auto Eyebrow Pencil #3

I finally had my eyebrows fixed (as they've been needing it for months...) and I've finally come to embrace my eyebrows as they are, rather than wishing I had thinner ones. I've been using this to fill in the very little gaps along with the spoolie on the other side to keep my brows looking neat. Recommended for people who have black hair!

Nature Republic Snail Solution 70 Eye Cream

I ran out of my Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel a long time ago and needed something that was hydrating, but had either brightening, depuffing, or anti-aging benefits. This one had 3 out of 4 and is also good for stressed skin, which is my current skin condition. My dark circles have been looking less apparent and it became easier for me to apply my under eye concealer. So far so good for this, but I'll definitely make a review for you guys in the coming months!

October Favourites

Hi everyone and Happy Halloween!

I just wanted to make a quick post to share my October Favourites with you! I didn't wear much makeup this month as I didn't have the luxury of time due to all my exams, which led to breakouts. -_- I didn't want to stress my skin further by putting on make-up so most of what I'm going to talk about here is skin care. I've also traveled twice this month so the little samples I got from my purchases before in Seoul have definitely come in handy.

Mamonde Extra Moisture Emulsion

I liked this so much, I had my friend buy me the full-sized version! Its lightweight but still gives a good amount of hydration to my skin. I've been wearing just this at home (or I add sunblock if I'm going out) and it has been enough to keep my skin from feeling tight. Only downside is that it is scented, so I wouldn't recommend this for people with extremely sensitive skin. 

Laneige Water Sleeping Pack

This has been a lifesaver for the first half of this month, as I spent it sleeping late at night and waking up quite early. It helped prevent my skin from getting dehydrated and looking dull. As this is a 'sleeping' pack, I put this on at night 2-3 times a week to keep my skin hydrated and looking a little more alive than it would have without it. It doesn't surprise me that this has been their best seller for years!

NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder

I don't know about you guys but there was a big learning curve for me in putting on setting powder. Regardless, this was a great first setting powder for me as it never looked cakey no matter how much I put on, and was almost invisible on the skin. It also did a great job in making my skin look flawless and poreless, which no powder I've tried has done yet. I use this with my Real Techniques Powder Brush as a last step to my routine and I'm almost hitting pan!

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit + YDK (Naked 2 Palette)

This is quite a different favourite as it's more of a favourite combination of two products. Though I haven't worn a lot of makeup this month, whenever I did I would always wear the Birthday Suit alone or in combination with YDK. I love the ease of cream shadows as well as the staying power, and the multi-dimensionality (if that makes sense) of YDK. It's slightly coppery which is probably why I love it so much.

September Favourites

Hi, everyone!

I hope you had a great September! Unfortunately mine was more stressful than I thought it would be so I had to simplify my normal skin care and make-up routine from the previous month. I also had to stay up for hours studying and doing papers which left my skin dehydrated by morning. This means more hydration and trying to look like I had more sleep than I actually did. Here are some of my favourites for September!

Too Cool for School Marshmallow Puff

I got this at the start of the month and I have been using it every single day to the point that I have to stop myself and give the sponge a few rest days to make it last longer. I love using this with my concealer the most (which I'll mention in a bit) because it makes it look so natural on both blemishes, redness, and under the eyes. 

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

If there is anything that is very important to me, it's concealer. It took a good month for me to finally get this in my shade (as it is always out of stock) but since I got it I have been using it everyday. It's medium to full coverage, a little goes a very long way, and is very brightening under the eyes but still works well on blemishes. You can definitely blend it in with fingers but I love using it with the marshmallow puff for a seamless finish. Easily the best all-around concealer I've tried and it's about time it got mentioned in a favourites post!

Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel

All the stress and lack of sleep has seriously dried my under eyes to the point that I needed to use this during the day (as I used to only use it at night). I discovered that it's a great eye gel for my concealer as it prevents it from looking flaky under the eyes and it doesn't settle so much on my milia (which needs to go -_-). I'm having an issue with fine lines though so I'll definitely switch when this runs out, but highly recommended if you're looking for hydration!

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque

This marks the first time I'm talking about a hair product! I got my hair trimmed about three weeks ago and got this to help my very dry, frizzy hair. This is the first hair mask I've used that really works!  I used it twice a week and it just leaves my hair feeling soft, light, and very healthy-looking. It also makes my hair easier to style, too. It's a bit expensive but well worth the price!

September Favourites

Hi, everyone!

August was definitely the quickest but the hardest month for me in terms of uni work, so I'm pretty glad its over! I definitely didn't forget to put new things in my make-up routine as well as use some that have been lost and found, and I wanted to share these with you. I definitely don't have as much favourites as last month, but everything included here has been used on an almost daily basis.

1028 Visual Therapy Brownie Eyes Palette

I got this as a gift from a friend around a month ago and every time I've worn it, I've gotten compliments on how pretty the eyeshadows look! They're excellent quality - almost on par with the eyeshadows from my Naked 2 Palette, easy to blend and work with, and have minimal fall out. Great starting product from Taiwanese make-up for me! Expect a first impressions/review soon.

Lioele Water Drop BB Cream

I bought this in Singapore and I loved it when I used it during my stay, then hated it for a long period of time for reasons including 'Too light of a coverage for my taste', 'Weird consistency', 'Messy application', 'Streaky' but now with less breakouts and more knowledge on how to apply it, I've grown to appreciate it and I've been wearing it more this month than my Fairydrops BB Cream as I find this lasts longer without sinking into my pores when it fades (take note that I wear makeup for at least 8 hours a day because of uni). It can be a tiny bit too white if I apply too much but I can get away with it. Now I get the appeal of lighter coverage with a slightly dewy finish!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I've been using it since I got it, but it has really helped when I used my Lioele BB Cream. It makes everything less streaky and definitely more flawless looking rather than using my fingers alone to apply. I used this to really buff in and blend my BB Cream after dotting it and roughly (meaning in a non-precise manner, not that I tugged on my skin!) spreading it. It also helps blending the BB cream down my neck and my jawline. Can't wait to use this with my future foundation purchases!

It's Skin Baby Face Jelly Tint (01 Tomato Red)

I misplaced this for a good two to three weeks and was so happy when it turned up. I only add a little bit and I find that it makes my lips look less dead by adding a hint of red. You can definitely build it up though I prefer not to, and I've tried it to create the famous lip gradient look and it turned out beautifully! Also it has a very pleasant smell and doesn't taste gross (not that I eat it or anything :p) which is a plus.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

This has been reviewed probably a thousand times but I've grown to really appreciate what it does for my eye make-up! Eyeshadow tends to crease on me because of the fold of my eyelids (if that makes sense) and this has helped to erase that and to make the colour of my eyeshadow more vibrant and long-lasting. Easy to see why this is such a revolutionary product!

Hey, everyone!

I'm back to share with you some of my favourites for the month of July. I've been really getting back into make-up and introducing a few more steps to my routine. The sudden change in weather from hot and humid to (slightly) cool and rainy has definitely taken its toll on my skin, giving me the opportunity to try more skin care products and test just how good my make-up products are. So let's get started!

Clio Kill Brown Brush Liner

I wanted to get back into wearing liquid liners so I tried this brush out at the beginning of the month. It's so easy to draw a thin, precise line and when I layer two coats (if this makes sense) it stays on my eyes all day (with eyeshadow primer of course) but it is also easy to clean with a regular cleanser. I've been really loving it this month but I'm not sure if I would repurchase this as I've been eyeing the Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner for a while now, but if that fails I'm definitely going back to this!

Real Techniques Shading Brush

Got this along with two other brushes in my last mini haul. Honestly speaking, I never thought I would love this brush as much as I do now. It's great for what I intended it to do, which was apply both powder and cream eyeshadows, but it's also a really good blending brush for both matte and shimmer eyeshadows. It's an almost perfect shape for my eyelids (as most brushes I've seen are too big) and has sneaked into my daily routine.

Fairydrops Candybar BB Cream

I know I've already written a very lengthy review of this here, but I have come to appreciate it a lot this month now that I got to compare it to my Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation and Lioele Water Drop BB Cream. It dries quickly, has good coverage (enough to cover most of my redness), and lasts for hours while still looking great at the end of the day. I could say I found the BB Cream and I will be repurchasing this when I run out. Highly recommended if you can find it!

Etude House Goodbye Pore Ever Primer Essence

I've also written a very lengthy review about this here and while I could still go on and on about how much I love this primer, I will spare you another lengthy ramble. It's translucent, creates an even surface, makes pores appear smaller, prolongs base makeup wear, and gives a slight dewy finish.  It doesn't have too much silicone which I have come to appreciate. Perfect to pair with BB Creams!

Innisfree Green Tea Moisture Essence

I loved this during my trip to South Korea last April because it saved my skin from the dry wind, but I've grown to love it again because it is very hydrating, not very oily, and it reduces the redness in my face (caused frequently by the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener, I'm afraid) to nearly none! I'm not sure if its because of the green tea and its known anti-inflammatory properties, but I love this essence and I'm so glad to have bought a back up! This has also helped a lot in calming my breakouts which makes it even more awesome.

Missha Super Aqua Relief Eye Cream

The skin under my eyes is really dry but my Laneige eye cream is too thick and appears too oily for daytime use. I tried this out from my sister's stash (not like she uses it much anyway) and it is light enough but still hydrating to be used for the day. I'm definitely going to purchase one for myself!
